Patrick Dorgu is a player Tottenham have been linked with for quite some time.
However, if recent reports are to be believed, they may have to wait for him a little bit longer.
Napoli targeting January move for Patrick Dorgu to fend off Premier League suitors
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli are considering making a move for Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu in the upcoming January transfer window in order to fend off interest from elsewhere.
The Danish international’s stock continues rising, as much like Gareth Bale, to whom he has been likened, the 20-year-old is on his way to transitioning from an attack-minded left-fullback to a right-wing operator.
A lot of interest in Dorgu Napoli are looking to get ahead of comes from the Premier League, with Chelsea and Tottenham the current leading names for his signature.
Valued by Transfermarkt at €12 million, Dorgu current contract at the Stadio Via del mare fetches him €12,500 per week and is set to run until June 2029.
It could work
Under Antonio Conte, Napoli are a side rejuvenated and look likely to at least manage Champions League qualification this time and take the Serie A title race to the very end. They also need more legs at the left-wingback slot, and one can expect Conte to be more than happy at the prospect of poking his former employers in the eye by swooping in for Dorgu in the middle of the season.
An extension of his stay in Italy makes quite a lot of sense for Dorgu for the time being, and Tottenham are unlikely to go for him in January if their current issues at the back persist going into the transfer window.
