The final gameweek of the Bundesliga was eventful for Bayern Munich in a positive way. The Bavarian club managed to win their 11th consecutive league title after Jamal Musiala scored a late winner against FC Koln. Borussia Dortmund couldn’t dethrone Die Roten from the top spot as they shared points with Mainz at Signal Iduna Park.
This title win will be sweet for Bayern since they managed to pip their arch-rivals on the final day of the season. Moreover, they also avoided going through a season without a major trophy. Bayern is pleased with the title win, but there are severe consequences for leaders at the club for poor returns in cup competitions and the title race going into the final day.
After lifting the league title on Saturday, Bayern confirmed the departures of Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn. Both will be leaving the club with immediate effect and have no say in the squad planning during the summer.
Salihamidzic has been the sporting director at Bayern for the last six seasons. The former Die Roten midfielder has endured criticism from fans during this tenure for various transfer mistakes. Bayern is yet to name a replacement for Salihamidzic, but a new sporting director may arrive in the summer.
Meanwhile, Oliver Kahn has been serving as CEO of Bayern since the departure of Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 2021. Kahn was not present in Cologne as Die Roten lifted their 11th consecutive league title. Salihamidzic managed to bid farewell to players and staff after the game.
There has been a lot of speculation about the future of Salihamidzic and Kahn due to disappointing results on the pitch in the last couple of months. The duo played a big role in dismissing Julian Nagelsmann at the end of March and bringing in Thomas Tuchel as the new head coach of the team.
The quarter-final eliminations from the Champions League and DFB Pokal led to more scrutiny of their decision to sack Nagelsmann just before the final phase of the season. Bayern also stumbled on to the Bundesliga title as performances in the league were far from consistent. Kahn and Salihamidzic eventually paid the price for their decisions as Bayern will move ahead without them.

Bayern has already announced CFOJan-Christian Dreesen as the successor of Kahn. Rummenigge, Uli Hoeness, Herbert Hainer, Dressen, and Thomas Tuchel will work together during the upcoming summer transfer window. Tuchel will hope that change in structure at the club doesn’t impact the transfer window as Rekordmeister needs to address key areas in the summer.
