Man United are feeling good about their chances of signing Mason Mount this summer.
Over the last week, Manchester United interest in signing Mason Mount has certainly ramped up. The midfielder has been heavily linked with an Old Trafford switch this summer, with the stories coming out of nowhere.
Suddenly, the general feeling among supporters is that this interest is genuine and there’s a real belief that a move to bring in Mount may actually happen.
Erik ten Hag seemingly wants to add more depth to a midfield which could do with extra legs – particularly during those periods where the schedule can become hectic.
In a piece about United’s transfer business, Optus Sport offers their latest information on Mount. According to their sources, United believe they have a ‘strong chance’ at signing the 24-year-old.
It’s stated that Mount is ‘increasingly likely’ to leave Stamford Bridge, with the Englishman ‘open’ to a switch to United, ahead of a move to Liverpool or Arsenal.
Mount’s Chelsea deal expires next summer, with no agreement looking likely at this moment in time. He’s going to be sold this summer as things stand, so the Stamford Bridge club do not lose him for free.
Optus Sport says that Ten Hag ‘likes’ Mounts overall game, with his ability to play a part in the final third, as well as bringing energy and defensive protection.
There can be no doubt this would be a shrewd piece of business if United could somehow pull it off. It’s all dependent on the eventual transfer fee, with Chelsea not really keen on letting their homegrown hero leave the club on the cheap – particularly to a direct rival.
