Man United could look to sanction a Fred sale this summer.
Manchester United Football Club sealed a third-place finish with a pretty impressive come-from-behind victory at home to Fulham yesterday.
Marco Silva’s side have troubled United during all three meetings this term, making Erik ten Hag’s side work super hard for victories in all three.
The moment of the match came from Fred. The Brazil international played an incredible ball through into Bruno Fernandes, who struck home with a cool finish to give United a 2-1 lead.
After the game, Fred was spotted talking to Marco Silva, with the Fulham manager coming back off the team bus in order to speak to the ex-Shakhtar Donetsk man directly. That began to raise suspicions.
Now, this morning, the Manchester Evening News have ran a story on Fred. Apparently, United are ‘considering’ a possible sale of the 30-year-old this summer. He’s attracting interest from Fulham and suddenly, the conversation with Silva makes plenty of sense.
The report claims that ‘intermediaries’ have spoken to Fred, proposing a possible move for the Brazil international, as United want to recruit a younger midfielder.
Fred is approaching into the final year of his deal, so this summer would be the ideal time to sell. Particularly if United aren’t planning on renewing his terms.
For the midfielder, it’s all about what he wants. Is he happy to sit on the United bench more often than not and play limited minutes? Or does he want to move elsewhere and play regularly for a Fulham side that could be pushing for European football?
I’d honestly be happy with either outcome, though it is encouraging to learn that United want to bring in another midfielder of some sort.
