Manchester United finished the season well after coming from a goal behind to beat Fulham 2-1 on the final day of the Premier League campaign.
De Gea also saved a penalty from Aleksandar Mitrovic when we were 1-0 down, on the day he received the Golden Glove award.
Speaking to MUTV after the game, De Gea spoke about how Erik ten Hag had told the players to finish the season well.
The manager wants us to be focused every game, to win every game. He was shouting before the game ‘come on guys, we have to finish properly, winning mentality’.
We showed again [at] 1-0 down, but then we created chances and could have scored more than two. But like I say, [it was] a big way to finish the season with a victory and give enjoyment to the fans.
De Gea is pleased with the progress we’ve made as a team since last season and says the team will be doing everything to win the FA Cup against City at the weekend.
The improvement is there, of course, we still have far [to go] but [it is] a massive improvement from last season. Winning a cup, finishing third, it’s never easy to finish in Champions League places in England, and then we have another final, a big final – I think at the moment it is a great year.
Tomorrow we recover and we start to prepare for [the final]. We know it’s a big final, a special game, and the whole year we’ve been fighting to be in the position to win titles and we will try absolutely everything to try to win.
