Erik ten Hag is confident he can make Mason Mount switch to Man United this summer.
Manchester United interest in Mason Mount has been pretty prevalent among the media over the last week or so. Hinting that the Red Devils are serious about pursuing the Chelsea man.
The Englishman has struggled for consistency this season, while also enduring injury hasn’t helped. Well, that isn’t stopping United from pursuing the attacking midfielder.
It’s The Telegraph with the most up-to-date information on Mount. They state that Ten Hag is ‘confident’ he can persuade the 24-year-old to make a switch to United this summer.
Mount is wanted by United, Liverpool and Arsenal, though he’s yet to make a decision on his Chelsea future.
Among Ten Hag’s top requirements this summer is a ‘dynamic’ number eight. Mount would fill that hole perfectly.
The Englishman is extremely mobile, two-footed, a hard worker and an excellent presser. He’s a direct upgrade on Christian Eriksen, while Mount would also be able to fill in further up the field when Bruno needs a rest.
At first, I wasn’t really sure about this move. Though the more I think about it, the more sense it seems to make. Mount is the ideal Ten Hag player in every sense of the word – though he will not come cheap.
Forcing Chelsea into selling to a direct rival will not be easy, though the fact mount only has one year left on his deal could play into United’s hands. The London club either have to cash in now, or risk losing Mount for nothing in a year.
My gut feeling says this transfer does get done, though it will drag on for a while yet.
