Man United seem unwilling to allow Hannibal to exit the club on loan this summer.
Manchester United have made a mixed start to the season. Erik ten Hag hasn’t been helped by injuries decimating some areas of his squad.
As a result, it has meant that some fringe players have had to stick around perhaps longer than they wanted. Look at Dean Henderson for example. He had to sit on the bench for a few games before being allowed to leave due to a Tom Heaton injury.
Another player who is suffering inadvertently from injuries is Hannibal. The midfielder has been kept at the club so far this summer, despite the fact he’d benefit more by moving elsewhere on a short-term deal.
The Manchester Evening News state that United have been ‘reluctant’ all summer to sanction a loan deal for the talented midfielder. They’ve recently rejected a short-term bid from Besiktas, though the Turkish window does remain open until September 15th so they could return with another offer.
Tunisia’s international boss has made it clear that his place in the squad could be at risk due to a lack of playing time, so it could be down to Hannibal to push for a loan move away during this window.
There’s no doubting his tremendous potential, though he probably has real concerns about minutes right now. He’s at that stage in his career where he simply has to be playing. That’s not happening at present and another loan move away does feel like the best solution for all involved.
With both Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo now on the comeback trail, let’s hope we see Hannibal’s departure sanctioned this week.
