A small Kobbie Mainoo injury update has been provided.
If you’re on Twitter/X, there have been rumours swirling about Kobbie Mainoo. Some suggesting that the midfielder may well be back available for the game against Brighton this coming weekend…
It all started after a picture of Kobbie Mainoo was published on his Instagram page, alongside a sand-timer emoji. He also responded to Bruno Fernandes on a post last week, further adding fuel to the fire.
Now, for the first time in a fair while, we actually have some reliable information on the United injury front.
It comes from the Manchester Evening News, who outline the latest on the whole squad’s injury issues. The good news? We could see Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount and Victor Lindelof return this weekend.
The MEN provided an injury update on Mainoo, giving him a potential return date. Although some believe he’ll be back this weekend, the MEN reckon the midfielder will be back available in late-September or early-October.
Given the initial timeframe that was placed upon the injury when it happened in pre-season, this seems to fall in line with that, so I’d assume this information is pretty much spot on.
It was a serious ankle injury that Mainoo suffered and it has seriously hampered his start to the season. The fact that he’s still a couple of weeks away is pretty disappointing to read, but his return should not be rushed as he’s still so young.
Upon his comeback, Mainoo will be playing with a real point to prove. United fans are seriously buzzing to see him given a run of games and if his pre-season form is anything to go by, I genuinely believe he could be displacing Mount from the line-up sooner than we all think.
