Man United have been offered the chance to sign Oussama Idrissi.
Manchester United’s squad is looking a little unbalanced right now. Mostly due to injuries, though some off-field issues are wreaking havoc in the right-wing spot.
Antony is currently away on leave after being given permission by United, while Jadon Sancho is out of favour after a very public spat with Erik ten Hag.
With that in mind, United could look to either trust in youth like Facundo Pellistri, or bring in someone on a free transfer. Anwar El Ghazi was linked as a possible signing yesterday. He’s in the headlines again today, along with another free agent; Oussama Idrissi.
It’s the latter we’d like to focus on here, with 90min.com providing the report. Apparently, United have been offered the chance to sign the 27-year-old on a free transfer, with Idrissi having previously worked with Ten Hag at Ajax.
As we all know, Ten Hag loves linking up with former players as he knows their strengths (and weaknesses) inside out. Idrissi is one of the options currently being ‘assessed’ by the Old Trafford club.
That said, United will have to act quickly, as both Idrissi and El Ghazi are weighing up options over in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, where they both have offers already on the table.
I’m never a fan of signing a player just for the sake of it. A move for either Idrissi or El Ghazi strikes me as exactly that. The former has played for Sevilla and Feyenoord recently, though playing in a starring role for United is another level entirely. Can these players hit those heights? I have my doubts.
I’d much prefer to see the club place faith in Pellistri, who looks a genuine talent.
