Man United are still looking for clubs who could potentially sign Donny van de Beek this summer.
Manchester United Football Club have made some important sales over the summer, though not much money was generated, aside from Dean Henderson and Anthony Elanga. Several young players left for nominal fees, while Eric Bailly was allowed to depart on a free transfer.
One man who remains at the club is Donny van de Beek – but it’s not for the want of trying. The Dutchman has been left out of United’s Champions League squad, as a proposed move to Real Sociedad fell through.
However, 90min.com state that United are ‘continuing to look’ for potential landing spots for the out-of-favour 26-year-old this summer.
The Turkish transfer window remains open until September 15th, while clubs in Qatar have until September 18th to make signings. With that in mind, there’s still a chance Van de Beek departs.
Interest from Turkey’s top sides, including Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, have not progressed. However, other clubs are ‘exploring’ a potential move to sign the Dutch midfielder.
The verdict
Surely, at this point, the only option for Van de Beek is to leave and try to revive his career away from Old Trafford. He just doesn’t have the trust of the manager right now, while his confidence is obviously low.
I struggle to see a way back onto the bench for Van de Beek here in Manchester, nevermind a place in the line-up. Even for cup matches.
He’s now been dropped from Netherlands action as well, so you’d expect that he’d be actively looking for a club who’d be keen on bringing him in. Instead, it looks as though he’s happy to remain out of the fold while collecting a handsome weekly wage. That’s entirely his prerogative, mind.
