Lisandro Martinez will be out injured for the next three months.
Manchester United Football Club haven’t had the best of luck with injuries so far this season. The Red Devils have been coping without a full XI of players for large periods. Though this week, some key figures did return.
The likes of Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat and Raphael Varane were back available for selection. Just when things were starting to look up, the injury curse has struck again…
This time it’s Lisandro Martinez. The centre-back has been dealing with an ankle problem that is seemingly lingering. It has already disrupted his start to the campaign.
Now, the BBC’s Simon Stone has confirmed a United major injury blow, with the key star now set to be out for an ‘extended period’. Stone went on to say that the timeframe of the injury is probably around the two/three-month mark. Gutting.
Lisandro Martinez out for an ‘extended period’ with a foot injury. Probably looking at around two/three months. Blow for @ManUtd

It goes without saying, Martinez was a vital player for United last season. The defence was built upon the confident foundation that he provided. This issue was suffered against Sevilla in the Europa League last season. It hasn’t gone away which is massively concerning.
At this stage, it looks like United are now giving Martinez all the time he needs to get right, rather than rushing him back too soon and risking further problems to the affected area.
This is why you have a squad. Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane will be the first-choice pairing, though the latter has had injury issues of his own over the years. It could fall upon the shoulders of Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans.
