Sergio Reguilon is out injured, leaving Man United with no fit left-backs.
Manchester United Football Club cannot catch a break at the moment. Just when it looks like the Red Devils are getting players back from injury, they lose another couple.
Erik ten Hag has lost Lisandro Martinez for what feels like the rest of the calendar year. Make no mistake about it, that’s a major blow.
Now, The Athletic have confirmed another injury problem United have to deal with. Sergio Reguilon has joined an ever-growing treatment room at the club…
The 26-year-old is out with a ‘minor issue’, though the Reds now have no fit players in the left-back position.
Reguilon missed the midweek game against Crystal Palace. We just presumed it was through the lingering illness that he fought through last weekend against Burnley. Unfortunately, he’s actually injured.
Although not a major problem, Reguilon will definitely miss tomorrow’s game against Crystal Palace in the league. His availability for both the Galatasaray and Brentford games remains up in the air. Failing that, we should see him back after the international break.
It’s a shame as Reguilon had been playing excellently before picking up this blow. I guess this is what happens when you sign an injury prone player to replace the likes of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
It now means Sofyan Amrabat will presumably play out there again this weekend. It’s far from his natural position, though he looked decent out there on Tuesday so we have no reason to doubt his ability and skill.
Hopefully, he’s not stuck out there for too long. We’re going to need Amrabat in his preferred midfield role some time soon.
Do you think Sofyan Amrabat can do a good enough job at left-back? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
