Our predicted MUFC XI for the huge Champions League away game vs FC Copenhagen is now in.
Manchester United’s Champions League started disastrously. A loss against Bayern Munich, away from home, is to be expected. However, following that up with a surprise home defeat against Galatasaray really had Erik ten Hag under pressure.
A victory, albeit unconvincing, against Copenhagen, was an absolute necessity. As is winning the return leg over in Denmark this midweek. Obviously, it’s not going to be easy, though after a hard-fought victory against Fulham on Saturday, dressing room confidence could be higher than it has been of late.
Ten Hag simply has to have this one if United stand any chance at making it out of the group – particularly as the games against Copenhagen were supposed to be the easier ones, on paper anyway…
The gaffer has to get the fine balance between rotation and playing his strongest team absolutely correct here. Let’s give you the full rundown of our predicted team news for this one.
Check out our predicted MUFC XI vs Copenhagen in full here:
Andre Onana will start in between the sticks as per usual, with the man from Cameroon looking good over the last few matches in particular.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has certainly improved us since his return to fitness at right-back, with Diogo Dalot completely out of the team following his poor performances. Sergio Reguilon gets the left-back nod. Raphael Varane needs minutes and this feels like a good time for his re-introduction. He will partner the in-form Harry Maguire, assuming he passes concussion tests.
Sofyan Amrabat has struggled for consistent minutes so far and he needs to start finding some consistency. Mason Mount is in a very similar position. This feels like an opportune time to get the pair involved. Bruno Fernandes starts and captains the Reds here.
Rasmus Hojlund cut a frustrated figure upon being subbed off at the weekend and I completely understand. He has looked good in Europe. To his right is Facundo Pellistri. He looked excellent off the bench at the weekend, with Marcus Rashford set to be back fit again.
