Man United have eyes on Brazil defender, Gleison Bremer.
Manchester United’s start to the season has been disastrous. Injuries haven’t helped, though the performance levels from the players just hasn’t been up to standard.
Pressure is building on manager Erik ten Hag, who is no doubt looking to continue to overhaul his squad in the transfer market – preferably as early as January.
Defensively, the team just doesn’t look the same without Lisandro Martinez. The Argentine is a longer-term injury issue, while Raphael Varane has fallen out of favour. The latter is not going to be around forever, while the likes of Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire continue to show inconsistencies in their game.
Enter, Gleison Bremer. It’s Calciomercato, via Sport Witness, with the claim. According to their report, United are said to be ‘on the lookout’ for the signing of the 26-year-old.
The Reds will face competition in the chase, with both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur said to be keen on Bremer, who currently plies his trade for Serie A side, Juventus.
Bremer’s impressive performances means he has another Brazil call-up for the upcoming international fixtures, though he will not come cheaply for the eventual winner of his signature at club level.
With a contract until 2027, Juventus are under no pressure to sell, meaning they can ask for an overinflated fee when it comes to transfer costs.
For cash-strapped United, a January deal feels nigh-on impossible. This one would have more of a summer feeling to it, though with club ownership up in the air, it’s unclear what sort of funds the Reds would have available.
To add further intrigue to a prospective move, Bremer is represented by CAA base, who also have a certain Mr. Varane on their clientele list right now.
