Manchester United Football Club are set to undergo major change, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to take charge of footballing operations at the Theatre of Dreams sooner rather than later.
He hopes to put new foundations for a new footballing structure in place, starting with the appointment of Paul Mitchell, the former AS Monaco sporting director.
According to 90min.com, Mitchell could look to bring in a couple of familiar players with him. They state United ‘are interested’ in an AS Monaco first-team duo, amid major changes, both on and off the field.
First up, we have Vanderson. United have been linked with the right-back before and it does make sense, given the fact that Erik ten Hag wasn’t initially keen on Aaron Wan-Bissaka, while Diogo Dalot continues to blow hot and cold.
90Min.com believes that Vanderson is viewed as the best young right-back in the world, by some in the game, which is obviously massive praise. He is also being eyed by Real Madrid. That could make things somewhat difficult…
Next up, we have Youssouf Fofana, who is a midfielder. Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle have all shown interest in the past, though he’s not a top priority for any of those sides right now.
Fofana is out of contract at the end of the season, though AS Monaco have indicated they will extend his deal by a further year, utilising a clause in his contract.
United are looking at the player as they consider their options to replace Casemiro in the long-term, with the man from Brazil not looking as sharp as he did last season.
It is stressed that Mitchell, who could come into the club in some capacity, is not necessarily the driving force behind the interest in these two players.
