Aaron Wan-Bissaka was missing vs Luton Town, with his absence explained.
Manchester United Football Club have had an injury-ravaged start to the campaign. Unlike Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, we’re not allowed to use it as an excuse…
Just when you think it’s letting up on that front, Erik ten Hag loses more bodies. Jonny Evans is now set to be out for a few weeks which is a pretty big blow given his increased playing time recently.
Yesterday, there was no Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the matchday squad, which left us all scratching our heads as to why.
Shortly after the teams were announced, journalist Rob Dawson confirmed that the absence of the right-back was due to illness. Thankfully, this means it will not be a long-term absence for Wan-Bissaka – who should be back after the international break.

I always worry because he’s only just come back from injury. The immediate fear is that he’s re-aggravated the problem and is set for another spell on the sidelines.
Although it was disappointing to be without him yesterday, at least he should be back upon the conclusion of the international break in a fortnight’s time.
Diogo Dalot did a decent job yesterday, though I still firmly believe Wan-Bissaka is the best right-back at the club right now. Although it does feel like Ten Hag will upgrade in that position eventually, for the remainder of this season, we have to give the ex-Crystal Palace man our full backing.
To Wan-Bissaka’s credit, he has improved lots since Ten Hag took charge. Although he can look a little clunky when in possession, his production (on both sides of the ball) is there for all to see.
