Bayern Munich is in the market for another center-back — but after failing to close the deal with Jonathan Tah in the summer, could be at the risk of losing him to La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Tah, 28, stars for Bayer Leverkusen but has an expiring contract when the current 2024/25 season is over. That means that starting at the end of this calendar year, teams will be free to negotiate a contract for Tah beginning next season — and will not have to pay a transfer fee to Die Werkself to do so.
But while Tah could still be smarting over Bayern’s not quite dogged enough pursuit of him, other teams may be beginning to step into the race for his signature.
From Sky Sport DE journalist Florian Plettenberg, via @iMiaSanMia:
[Bayern executive board member for sport] Max Eberl is keeping contact with Jonathan Tah and pushing to sign him as a free agent next summer. However, Real Madrid have joined the race and a move to Madrid in January could become a real possibility following [Eder] Militão’s injury. Tah has not made a final decision yet [@Plettigoal]
Which team will be able to convince the German international?
