Tottenham target Milan Skriniar is set to leave PSG and join Galatasaray on loan
Tottenham Hotspur have been underwhelming in the first half of the season as they sit in 11th spot in the Premier League table.
After watching Ange Postecoglou’s side struggle, the club chiefs are expected to make signings in January to bolster their fight for European spots this season and are likely to target reinforcements in central defence.
Injuries to Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies have depleted the North London side’s backline for over a month now, forcing Ange Postecoglou to deploy Archie Gray at the heart of their defence. Thus, they are thought to be eyeing a new addition at centre-back.
-> Tottenham emerge as practical destination for PSG defensive star
Paris Saint-Germain defender Milan Skriniar has been linked with a move to Tottenham. The 29-year-old is set to be made available by Paris Saint-Germain in the upcoming January transfer window with a fee of €35m deemed enough to secure his services.
However, the Slovakian centre-back’s signature won’t come easy as other clubs are looking at his situation at Parc des Princes. Now, as per Dougie Critchley of Sky Sports via X, Milan Skriniar is closing in on a move to Galatasaray on loan for the rest of the season.
Skriniar was regarded as one of the best defenders in the world during his time at Inter Milan, where he played close to 250 games across six seasons. He joined PSG in July 2023 amid a lot of fanfare; however, the move hasn’t turned out as expected. Having been deemed as surplus to requirements for Luis Enrique, the Slovakian international has been given the green light by the PSG chiefs to leave the club on loan.
-> TTLB Opinion: €16m star could be the temporary band-aid to Tottenham defensive woes
For Tottenham, missing out on the ex-Inter Milan star will be a huge setback as he would have been a strong addition to their backline that has been crippled with injury problems. Van de Ven, Romero and Davies are all out of action with no confirmed return date, leaving Radu Dragusin as the only recognised centre-half currently at Big Ange’s disposal. Skriniar would have brought experience, physicality, leadership and defensive acumen to the North London side.

On a six-month loan deal, the risk factor would have been minimal as well. However, it appears that Spurs have missed out on Skriniar to Turkish side Galatasaray.
