Manchester City transfer target Omar Marmoush says he is flattered by the interest being shown in him but he doesn’t have a “dream destination” if the chance to leave Eintracht Frankfurt arises in January.
Asked to address the rumours about his future, the Egyptian international insisted that he is focused on performing well for his current team:
“Of course, you hear about it [transfer speculation] in passing. I’m honoured that people are talking about me. It shows that I’m doing a good job. But on a day-to-day basis, I don’t think about it at all. My focus is on Eintracht Frankfurt and being successful here.”
“There is always a lot of speculation from the outside. But I don’t have a specific dream destination… What I can promise the fans is that I will give my all for Eintracht in every game. I’m not thinking about a transfer. I’m living in the here and now and enjoying my time in Frankfurt.”
The Bundesliga forward is on City’s shortlist of targets
It was reported at the weekend that the 25-year-old is being looked at by the Premier League champions ahead of the January transfer window.
Marmoush and former player Liam Delap are both being eyed as potential options to strengthen the forward line. The pair are likely to cost a similar amount.
It is believed that Frankfurt would want at least £40m for Marmoush, while City’s buyback option on Delap is said to be worth around £30m.
Other Premier League teams are targeting Marmoush
The Egyptian has been in outstanding form in recent months, having racked up 30 goal contributions in all competitions for Frankfurt. Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg reported back in October that the forward was keen on moving to England with Liverpool among his suitors.
Since then, Arsenal, Newcastle and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in Marmoush, along with City.
