New recruit Antonin Kinsky hoping to make his Tottenham debut vs Liverpool in the Carabao Cup
Tottenham Hotspur may have not started the New Year well but have at least shown an intent in the transfer market. They completed the signing of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague at the weekend, beating the likes of Newcastle United, Brighton and Hove Albion, Brentford and Celtic in the process.
Spurs have been without first-choice keeper Guglielmo Vicario since he fractured an ankle during the 4-0 win at Manchester City in late November and he is set to be sidelined until the end of February.
Fraser Forster initially deputised to good effect but Spurs have won only two of their last 11 games in all competitions amid an injury crisis. The ex-England international missed Saturday’s 2-1 loss at home to Newcastle United with a sickness bug, resulting in Brandon Austin being thrust into the starting lineup for his Spurs debut.

However, the North London outfit have moved quickly to replace the injured Vicario by bringing in Antonin Kinsky, who is rated as one of the continent’s best up-and-coming goalkeepers.
The glovesman from the Czech Republic revealed how boss Ange Postecoglou and technical director Johan Lange convinced him to join Tottenham. In an interview with Infotbal, Kinsky sent a message to Ange Postecoglou that he is ready to face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
“I haven’t even unpacked my bag yet, but every next game is on my mind. I’ll prepare so that I’m ready. And if the coach decides to point at me, I’ll be ready. I feel great. I’m calm in my head. I want to pick up where I left off,” Kinsky told Infotbal.
After spending time on loan at lower division Czech side MFK Vyskov from February 2022 to June 2023, Kinsky has bagged a big move in the Premier League. The Prague-born talent expressed his wish to face Liverpool in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Wednesday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Kinsky will be chomping at the bits to play against the best team in England and immediately prove his worth to Big Ange and the fans. It depends on whether the Tottenham boss throws him at the deep end. However, with Austin performing well on his debut against Newcastle last weekend, Kinsky must have to settle for a spot on the bench with Forster doubtful.
