There’s good news and bad news about Rodrigo Bentancur’s injury. The good news is that he’s going to be okay. The bad news is that he’ll miss the next two weeks due to the Premier League’s concussion protocol.
Ange Postecoglou posted a video update on Lolo via Tottenham Hotspur’s social channels and confirmed that he’s at home recuperating, doing okay, and that he will be out for a couple of weeks to make sure he doesn’t suffer any adverse affects from his injury.
So I think this more or less confirms Occam’s Razor with regards to what happened to Bentancur during Spurs’ 1-0 win over Liverpool on Wednesday. Replays showed Lolo dove to attempt a header, and seemed to land awkwardly, banging his head on the turf and knocking him out. If he sustained a concussion, that’s probably the whole issue, and it has nothing to do with any weird facial expressions that he may or may not have been exhibiting in the buildup to the corner kick. In short, he just knocked himself out. It happens.
But it’s good he’s going to be okay and that it’s a relatively minor injury. Lord knows Lolo’s had his fair share of injuries lately, and we still need him healthy for the spring.
