Tottenham are keen on signing PSG outcast Randal Kolo Muani on loan with an option to buy
Tottenham Hotspur have targeted a new striker in this January transfer window despite spending big on Dominic Solanke during the off-season.
Dominic Solanke arrived from Premier League rivals Bournemouth after a prolific 2023/24 campaign that yielded 19 goals in the top flight. The English striker has adapted well to Ange Postecoglou’s system, bringing a lot to the team apart from his goals.
However, the 27-year-old has constantly played for Spurs since the start of the season and requires a breather to avoid a potential burnout. As a result, the North Londoners have been looking to add a striker to their roster and have set their sights on Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani.

Looking to bring Randal Kolo Muani to White Hart Lane, club chairman Daniel Levy, alongside director of football Johan Lange, flew to Paris earlier this week to try and negotiate a deal to sign the 26-year-old. Over the last 48 hours, Spurs have been pushing really hard to agree personal terms with the French forward.
PSG signed Kolo Muani in a deal worth €90 million in the summer of 2023 following his exceptional performances at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he scored 26 goals and provided a further 17 assists in 50 outings. However, the France international has struggled to replicate his Bundesliga form for the Ligue 1 champions with only 11 goals and seven assists in 54 appearances since he moved to his home country.
As a result, the forward’s stock has dipped a bit and Tottenham are now believed to be interested in taking him on loan with an option to buy for £50 million. The Lilywhites aren’t the only club vying for his signature; Manchester United are keen on a loan deal too.
Football London journalist Alasdair Gold thinks Kolo Muani is “perfect” for Postecoglou’s system. He thinks the PSG misfit ticks all the boxes required to play under the Australian boss at Tottenham.
“He [Kolo Muani] is perfect for the Postecoglou system. The way he can play anywhere across that front three. He’s got pace, strength, can dribble past the player, knock a ball in from the wide angles like he loves or he can cut inside and have a shot himself,” Alasdair Gold said on Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast.
“He would get a lot of minutes at Spurs if they were to be able to bring him in because he’s going to play, like I said, anywhere across that front three, really. You can just kind of pick and choose where you want to play him.”
Kolo Muani’s ability to play anywhere across the front line would see him add a lot of value to this Spurs side. With Timo Werner struggling to contribute, Son Heung-min’s powers waning, and Wilson Odobert and Richarlison on the sidelines, it is no Big Ange is in for a versatile option in the PSG man.

The 2022 World Cup finalist would certainly get a lot of game time at Tottenham, in contrast to PSG where he has only started two Ligue 1 games this season. With Solanke barely getting a rest, the signing of Kolo Muani could be pivotal for the Lilywhites.
