Ange Postecoglou has dropped the latest injury update on three Tottenham stars
There is no doubt that injuries have been a huge factor in the challenges Tottenham Hotspur have faced this season.
Cristian Romero training with the first team earlier this week was a refreshing sight for the Spurs fans, even if the centre-back isn’t quite ready to play. His centre-back partner, Micky van de Ven is expected to resume training next week, which is a huge positive for Ange Postecoglou, who had 14 first-team players missing—11 injured and three ineligible—during the Europa League win over Hoffenheim on Thursday.
The Australian’s patched-up Tottenham side managed to edge past Hoffenheim 3-2 in Germany and guarantee a spot in the Europa League knockout rounds. Spurs must now quickly switch their focus toward the Premier League where they face relegation-threatened Leicester City on Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou faced the media after the Europa League game and dropped an injury update on three of his players. He told the reporters on Friday (h/t The Standard):
“Djed’s still sore from the weekend, he got a knock so he’s a doubt. Pape’s still a doubt, Reggy [Sergio Reguilon] should be OK.
“We’ll see how we go [with Bissouma]. He’s definitely a doubt for Sunday but we’re hoping by Elfsborg he could be right.”
Pape Matar Sarr picked up a knock in the 3-2 defeat at Goodison Park last weekend and subsequently missed the trip to Hoffenheim. Djed Spence has not been included in Spurs’ Europa League group-stages squad, so he was ineligible to face Hoffenheim in midweek. However, he remains a doubt as well after sustaining a knock in the defeat at Everton.
Yves Bissouma, meanwhile, suffered a minor muscle strain in the North London derby defeat at the Emirates Stadium last week and looks doubtful for the Leicester City game. On the positive scheme of things, Sergio Reguilon is fine and will be included in the squad for Sunday’s league fixture.

Tottenham lost Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson to injuries for weeks before the Everton game, with the duo joining fellow forwards Timo Werner and Wilson Odobert on the sidelines. The persistent injury issues have hampered the team’s progress in Big Ange’s second season in North London.
