Bayern Munich is closing in on a new deal with star left-back Alphonso Davies. It’s all but official now — and ahead of the team announcement, reports have surfaced regarding the details of the contract.
From Sport Bild reporters Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl, as captured via @iMiaSanMia:
Details of the new deal agreed between Bayern and Alphonso Davies:
• 5-year contract until 2030• Gross salary €15m fixed plus €5m performance based bonuses
• €20m signing fee
[@altobelli13, @cfbayern]
If these details are accurate, Davies will get a fixed €19M per year including a pro-rated accounting of the signing bonus, with incentives that could take him up to an average of €20M per year if they are all realized. That is a handsome and extremely well-earned payday for the Canadian Men’s National Team star, who has proven crucial to Bayern in Vincent Kompany’s setup.
From Bayern’s side, a €20M signing bonus is probably nothing compared to the transfer fee it would have taken to secure a top-rated left-back on the market, such as AC Milan’s Théo Hernández.
And Davies is a known quantity in Munich — a terrific fit. This is a big relief for Bayern fans everywhere. We’re just waiting for the pen to be put to paper now.
