Aston Villa are the latest team to register their interest in signing Manchester City winger Oscar Bobb, according to Purple Panel.
The X account claims that the Villans “contacted Manchester City to enquire” about the Norwegian international’s availability.
However, Pep Guardiola’s side made it clear that Bobb is not for sale for any price this summer.
This is believed to be the third time that a club has made an approach for the 21-year-old in recent weeks. Both Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund have also reportedly made formal enquiries.
Chelsea are said to be fans of Bobb too, with their co-Director of Recruitment and Talent Joe Shields knowing the player well, having previously been a youth scout at City.
Why is Bobb in such high demand?
The forward has been attracting attention with his performances on City’s pre-season tour of the United States over the past couple of weeks.
Bobb had a hand in all three of City’s goals during the 4-3 defeat to Celtic, and he was also impressive in the subsequent loss to AC Milan.
Of course, that isn’t the only reason the Norwegian has attracted suitors. He made his breakthrough into the first team last season and looks poised to make the step up to become a regular starter.
Do City have another Palmer?
There can be no disputing the fact that the Cityzens made an error by letting Cole Palmer leave for Chelsea last year. The Manchester club will be mindful about not repeating that mistake.
It’s likely the reason why they have been so forceful in rebutting enquiries for Bobb this summer. They clearly feel they have a gem in their ranks and it is now up to the player to make the step up when it matters most.
