Manchester City are keeping tabs on Rodrygo’s situation at Real Madrid, according to BM&C News.
The Brazilian website claims that the Premier League champions “would not hesitate to make an offer” for the forward if he becomes available this summer.
Rdorygo is facing a lot of competition for his place in Real’s starting lineup. Kylian Mbappe’s arrival on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain and the emergence of Arda Guler mean the Brazilian could be left with very limited game time.
BM&C News reports that City manager Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of “creative and quick players” and Rodrygo would certainly fall into that category.
How much would it cost to sign Rodrygo?
The 23-year-old actually prompted speculation about a move to the Etihad at the start of the summer. When speaking about the Cityzens back in early June, he said:
“To be honest, we knew they [City] were better [in the Champions League quarter-final]. For me, they are the best team in the world, the one that plays the best football. I think the most difficult rival has already left [the competition]”.
However, at the time, it was reported that Real were not interested in letting Rodrygo go, with it being suggested that the La Liga side would hold out for a fee in excess of €100m (£86m).
City are in the market for a new forward
After offloading Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid for £82m, it is believed that the Cityzens will sign a replacement before the transfer window closes on August 30th.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has already said that a winger or a false nine could be targeted, and Rodrygo would definitely fit the criteria. He is not the only player being considered, though, with reports suggesting that both Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and Wolves’ Pedro Neto are also on the club’s radar.
