According to reports by Manchester News, Bayern Munich is one of the clubs looking at an emerging star from the Championship (via @iMiaSanMia):
Manchester United and Bayern hold an interest in Sunderland midfielder Chris Rigg (17). The youngster only signed his first professional contract with Sunderland this summer after celebrating his 17th birthday in June [@MENnewsdesk]
This is certainly a good approach to youth signings, looking at established players from lower-tier clubs. Bayern could definitely use some incoming midfield talent in the future as Joshua Kimmich, Konrad Laimer, and Leon Goretzka are growing older by the minute.
Chris Rigg plays higher up the pitch and can even function as a winger in some games. He began to make a name for himself with occasional appearances last season, having scored twice in eight starts in the Championship. This season, he finally got his name on the scoresheet last week against Middlesbrough and has shown lots of promise for his age.
What do you think about this potential signing? Should Bayern be looking at this section of the market? Does Rigg have the potential to ever break into the Bayern first team? Tell us what you think in the comments below!
