Welcome to the FC Bayern Campus Round Up, where Bayern Munich’s U-17, U-19 and U-23 matches are recapped, line ups are provided to familiarize readers with the players and highlights to each match are hyperlinked on top of their respective scorelines. Unfortunately, none of these matches can be viewed in full length without an FCBayernTV subscription. And if you have it, why are you wasting time reading this? Without further ado, here is the round up:
Bayern lineup: Schmitt – Brückner, Dettoni, Scholl, Aznou – Rüger, Denk (76. Scott), Dell’Erba – Demircan (76. Wagner), Kusi-Asare (76. Unsöld), Irankunda.
Goals: 1:0 Irankunda (7.), 1:1 Sztaf (23.), 2:1 Denk (40.), 2:2 Hirtlreiter (69.), 2:3 Sztaf (74.)
When it rains, it pours. After a phenomenal start to the league season, Bayern II have now conspired to go winless in the last 4 matches. This was a slight improvement on the previous match, in which Bayern badly struggled, in that the first half was pretty good, buoyed by a goal of the season contender from Luca Denk in the 40th minute. On a weekend in which Aleksandar Pavlović scored an absolute screamer, this goal was probably somehow even better.
But yet again, things fell apart in the second half and the team’s old habits of losing the ball incredibly cheaply and allowing easy counterattacks through a soft midfield returned, leading to a very well deserved comeback from Buchbach. Bayern II somehow remains in 5th despite the recent poor form, but is now 9 points behind first placed 1. FC Schweinfurt (though with a game in hand). The team’s next match, and last one before the international break, will be against Eintracht Bamberg on Thursday, October 3rd at 12:00PM CST. Hopefully, the international break will give some of the countless injured players enough time to make a full comeback.
Bayern lineup: Klanac – Dalpiaz, Mijatović (64. Schäfer), Puljić, Ofli – Nasrawe (64. Zöls), Santos, Richter (39. Chávez) – Binder (46. Wilson), Codjo-Evora (64. Eckl), Chemwor (70. Schuhbauer).
Goals: 0:1 Nasrawe (2., Foulelfmeter), 0:2 Codjo-Evora (11.), 0:3 Dalpiaz (16.), 0:4 Dalpiaz (63.), 0:5 Chávez (67.), 0:6 Schäfer (71.), 0:7 Dalpiaz (87.), 0:8 Dalpiaz (89.).
Now THAT is more like it. Despite the perfect record in the league, Bayern had won 5 of the past 6 matches by just one goal (and lost the other) as the opposition continually gave Bayern a run for their money. Those kind of matches are invaluable when it comes to developing as a young player, but sometimes a blow out win is fun, too. This was, of course, a victory of the latter kind as the team racked up an incredible 8 goals to celebrate a really comfortable win.
Of course, such a game gets easier to win when one is gifted two penalties inside the first 3 minutes by the opposition. The first came within 30 seconds and the second 2 minutes later, both originating from extremely clumsy challenges by the opposition. While Jussef Nasrawe scored the first penalty, Louis Richter missed the second one. Still, Noah Codjo-Evora scored a second and then it became the Magnus Dalpiaz show. The right back, yes, RIGHT BACK showed the finishing of a forward as he scored 4 goals this match to put Greuther Fürth to the sword.
This result sees Bayern move to 24 points from 8 games and remain 9 points clear of second placed SpVgg Unterhaching in 2nd in the table with 6 games to go. The team’s next match will be against Aston Villa away in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday, October 2nd at 7:00AM CST. REMEMBER: If you go to the official UEFA Youth League website, a free live stream of the match should be provided. You do NOT need an FCBayernTV subscription to watch this match.
Bayern lineup: Ruland – Wijks, Ajayi, Schmid, Pavlić, Göttlicher (72. Moumouni), Egwuatu, Snip, Gashi (72. Anand), Karl (72. Özmen), Mike (72. Hentcho Nseke).
Goals: 1:0 Mike (3.), 2:0 Karl (12.), 3:0 Egwuatu (31.), 4:0 Karl (62.), 5:0 Mike (67.).
In truth, this could have been a double digit victory. If one looks at the highlights, the chances missed excellently demonstrate this. Head coach Patrick Kanituh had this to say about the match, via Bayern’s official website: “A deserved home win, which was characterized by a strong start in both halves. Despite a temporary setback, we showed a reaction in the second half and rewarded ourselves. Nevertheless, we must work as a team to maintain the high level consistently over the full game.”
This victory leaves Bayern on 21 points after 7 games, 7 points clear of second placed Ingolstadt despite having a game in hand. That game in hand will be played in midweek as the U-17s travel the short distance to 1860 Munich on Wednesday, October 2nd at 12:00PM CST. The derby will be one to watch…
