In Harry Kane’s first season at Bayern Munich, the team won four of the first five Bundesliga matches and only dropped points in a draw at home against Bayer Leverkusen. History repeated itself this season with an identical start.
But greedy Bayern fans were already irritated with Thomas Tuchel’s defensive and possession minded approach, given the squad’s unique attacking talent. Why is everyone enjoying Bayern’s play so much this campaign?
In a recent interview (via @iMiaSanMia), Kane said, “I really like him as a coach. He’s a great personality as a leader and coach. You can see how we want to play: high intensity and high pressing, keeping the ball. I think that suits the team because there are a lot of attacking players who want to score goals or provide assists. It’s working well so far and I’m looking forward to the upcoming games.”
Attacking style soccer is a large component of the DNA rooted in the history of both Bayern and the Bundesliga. If a team is up a goal or two, parking the bus or passing back and forth around the backline isn’t good enough for the fans.
Vincent Kompany deserves a lot of credit for reinvigorating the squad and the fanbase on the team’s quest to match Leverkusen’s undefeated season.
