Rodrigo Bentancur’s ban has put further emphasis on his stop-and-go Tottenham career, as he has been struggling with injuries a bit too frequently ever since arriving from Juventus.
Ahead of the January transfer window, Spurs are keeping tabs on players that could fit in right away in their current setup under Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham ready to make Inter Milan tempting Davide Frattesi offer
As reported by Spazio Inter via Sport Witness, Tottenham are looking to make Inter Milan an offer for their midfielder Davide Frattesi in the region of €35 million.
The deep-lying midfielder officially joined Inter permanently in the summer after the obligation to buy him for €31.4 million after his loan spell from Sassuolo last season kicked in.
The Italy international played a key role in Simone Inzaghi’s side winning the Serie A last season. This term, too, he has 16 appearances across all competitions as the Nerazzurri look to defend their domestic title while going deep in the Champions League.
Frattesi has at Inter a €5.19m-per-year contract set to run until June 2028.
It could work
Tottenham usually don’t like being held to ransom for a high price tag, and it’s unlikely Inter would let Frattesi leave without some degree of profit on offer.
Stylistically, however, Frattesi could transition into the first-team setup seamlessly under Ange Postecoglou, being a deep-lying midfielder capable of also operating as an eight.
