Man United are working to extend the contract of Diogo Dalot.
Manchester United are having a great season. A top-four finish can be secured with one point tonight.
The rebuilding job under Erik ten Hag will continue, with this summer transfer window a huge one. Not only will players be signed and sold, others will have their contracts extended.
Diogo Dalot is one man who has improved this term. However, more recently, the man from Portugal has found himself out of the team due to Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s uptick in form.
That said, Ten Hag seems keen on keeping Dalot at the club, further developing the talent of the ex-Porto man.
It’s Fabrizio Romano with the latest on Dalot. In an exclusive, he claims United are ‘advancing’ in talks to extend the contract of the 24-year-old.
United plan to keep Dalot by securing his long term future, with confidence a deal will be reached soon.
Dalot is someone who has always attracted interest from elsewhere. He’s showcased those talents this season.
However, I’ve always been under the impression that he’d prefer to stay in Manchester – particularly after Ten Hag has placed real trust in the full-back.
This feels like a shrewd move, with Dalot utilised as the first choice right-back for the large majority of the season. Although Wan-Bissaka has improved as the term has gone on, the Portugal international still feels like the number one option.
If both Dalot and Wan-Bissaka are to stay, it does give Ten Hag one less area of the field to worry about over the summer. I wouldn’t be against giving these two another season together at the very least.
Hopefully, the new deal is signed and sealed soon.
