Bayern Munich center-back Dayot Upamecano is pretty happy with how things are progressing these days at Säbener Straße.
“Things are going very well with my coach at Bayern. I’m very happy that he’s there because he’s helped me progress and I’m very grateful to him. I feel I’ve made a lot of progress compared to last season. He’s doing a lot of video analysis with me, which helps me a lot. We can see that on the pitch,” said Upamecano during a press conference for the France national team (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
When asked about Bayern Munich teammates Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise, the defender offered effusive praise.
“(Coman) never doubted himself. He was always self-confident. At the moment he’s playing at an unbelievable level. He’s performing every game – no matter whether as a starter or off the bench, he’s the Kingsley Coman that we all expect. Michael is an incredible player with a lot of maturity. I think he’ll be a big player,” said Upamecano. “I always see (Olise) very happy. I feel he’s making a lot of progress. I’m very happy to be playing with him at Bayern and France. It’s a privilege for me because I’m certain he’ll become a very very big player. Sometimes I have to defend against him in training
Finally, when asked about the condensed schedule players are facing, Upamecano said he was in favor of players taking a stand against it.
“Yes, why not. I’ve already said that there are a lot of games. It’s a topic we have to discuss between us. I hope one day they’ll understand that,” said Upamecano.
