Tottenham Hotspur fullback Sergio Reguilon has been subject to links with a move away from White Hart Lane given his tricky situation at N17.
The Spaniard has found it difficult to find his feet in England, and the situation with him gets more difficult with every passing season. He moved to North London in a highly anticipated transfer worth £32 million from Real Madrid, albeit his time at the club has been defined by consistent loan spells away from N17, and Spurs are looking at getting him off the books at White Hart Lane as they continue their mass exodus of the surplus in the coming windows.
Reguilon has been a presence at Hotspur Way, but he has been frozen out of the North Londoners squad as they look to find a way to make him redundant at N17. And former Lilywhites manager Jose Mourinho is all set to take advantage of the situation as he looks to pursue a move for the 28-year-old in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Wenham backs Reguilon and Mourinho reunion
Mourinho was the manager that brought the former Atletico Madrid full-back to White Hart Lane, and he is keen to reunite with him at Fenerbahçe, and John Wenham, owner of the reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhites Rose, insists that it would be a perfect solution for the North Londoners.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:
“I think they could afford a deal. We’ve had some success moving players to Turkey in the past. Therefore, this deal is possible, especially with Jayden Oosterwolde, the Fenerbahçe starting left-back, having been ruled out for the season.
“They will be looking to reinforce that position, and it would certainly be a welcome transfer from Spurs’ point of view.”
The North Londoners will be looking to accept any potential deal that takes Reguilon away from N17 as it opens up space in the roster to sign another left-back with Tottenham already having established links with Patrick Dorgu.
