West Ham have checked on Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, 21, who is on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.
The Northern Ireland international has also attracted interest from Leicester City while Atalanta scouts watched him last month.
Charles, 21, joined Southampton from Manchester City last year in a deal worth £12m.
The Citizens’ academy has raked in dozens of millions over the past few years with Southampton a chief buyer. Samuel Edozie, Gavin Bazanu, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Romeo Lavia joining Charles on the south coast.
After making one Premier League appearance for Man City in the 2022/23 season, Charles made 32 appearances in the Championship for the Saints following his move to St Mary’s.
Then-Southampton boss Russell Martin invested heavily in the summer upon their return to the Premier League which opened the door for Charles to seek more first-team football.
A 23-time Northern Ireland international, Charles has contributed four assists and one goal this season as Sheffield Wednesday sit just three points away from the second-tier playoffs.
That form has attracted some top-flight clubs to give him another chance at the highest level.

Southampton have plenty of work to do if they are to remain at that highest level. Having won once in 19 games, they have just six points and are currently 10 points from safety at the start of 2025.
Aware of the transfer speculation surrounding Charles, Owls boss Danny Rohl told BBC Radio Sheffield: ‘He’s a young, high-potential player – the pity is that he is not our player.’
