West Ham United are eyeing up the addition of a Premier League striker in the January transfer window.
Graham Potter will be well aware that he needs to add some more firepower to his West Ham ranks before the January transfer window slams shut.
Nice hitman Evann Guessand is believed to be West Ham’s number one transfer target this month.
However, the Hammers transfer team are clearly lining up alternative transfer targets as well.
Potter is currently without Niclas Fullkrug, Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen, and the latter is the only one of those three who is set to return anytime soon.
Now’s the time to bring in some proven cover in the centre-forward department.
West Ham want to sign Premier League striker in January window
Getting the signing of a proven striker over the line before the end of the month will be crucial for Potter.
His current available centre-forward options are simply not good enough.
And the Hammers allegedly have a plan to bring a Premier League forward to the London Stadium this month.
And according to a report from Give Me Sport, West Ham have made an enquiry for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Before Potter took over at the London Stadium, Julen Lopetegui was said to be eyeing up a move to bring the injury-prone 27-year-old to the London Stadium as a long-term replacement for Michail Antonio.
Calvert-Lewin, who earns £120k-a-week at Everton (Salary Sport), will actually be out of contract with the Merseyside outfit in the summer.
But the Hammers seem to be keen on striking a deal for him now.
However, signing him would be a big mistake in my eyes.
There is a big red flag concerning Calvert-Lewin – his woeful injury record.
The 27-year-old has missed 69 games through injury since the start of the 2021/22 season (Transfermarkt).
He’ll be 28 in March, and his injury problems will undoubtedly get worse over the course of the next few years.
West Ham should avoid a move to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin at all costs in the January transfer window.
Bringing him to the London Stadium this winter could be a really costly error.
