Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has come under immense pressure after Tottenham’s 3-2 defeat to Everton
Tottenham Hotspur’s underwhelming Premier League season continued on Sunday when they were beaten 3-2 away by Everton.
Ange Postecoglou’s side were on the back foot for three-quarters of their game against the Toffees. The North Londoners went three goals behind in an uninspiring first-half display, with strikes from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Iliman Ndiaye being compounded by Archie Gray’s own goal. With Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison’s late goals not proving enough to pinch a point at the Goodison Park, Spurs are now in 15th spot and only eight points above the drop zone.
Tottenham are without a Premier League win in six matches, with their last top-flight success coming at the home of basement boys Southampton in mid-December. The latest defeat has only increased the pressure on Ange Postecoglou, with speculation over his future rife.

Potential managerial candidates are being lined up to replace Postecoglou should he be sacked. Former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara has suggested the 59-year-old could lose his job after the shocking performance on Sunday, and it remains to be seen if honcho Daniel Levy will wield the axe.
Amidst the barrage of criticism, former Newcastle United and Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew sympathised with Postecoglou after the defeat at Everton, admitting the injuries he’s had to contend with have been “painful”. However, he also thinks the Australian’s rigid approach and one-dimensional tactics could prove to be his downfall at White Hart Lane.
“It doesn’t bode well because Ipswich just coming off of that heavy defeat have lost 12 which you would expect. But you wouldn’t expect Spurs to have lost 12 in 22 games,” Alan Pardew said on talkSPORT.
“Yeah, I have got sympathy because you ,when you lose key players you know it’s going to be painful. Sometimes you can work round it and it isn’t painful but nine times out of 10 your key players are painful and it reflects in your stats and obviously in your results and for Spurs that is definitely the case.
“Having said that, the game plan hasn’t changed to supplement the fact that they’ve had injuries. He’s kept it the same and that’s where they’re coming unstuck.”
Truly, injuries have played a major role in ruining Spurs’ season. The Lilywhites have been plagued by injuries this term, with Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario and Destiny Udogie all still sidelined through injury. Dominic Solanke suffered a knee injury in training which resulted in him missing the Everton game, along with Brennan Johnson and Yves Bissouma also sitting out with their respective issues.

However, injuries cannot continue to be used as an excuse. Despite a lack of resources, Big Ange has continued to play the same open, attacking style of football. As a result, we have conceded a lot of goals this season with the opposing teams easily slicing us open in every game.
The club is in crisis mode and Big Ange could lose his job. Sitting 15th in the table and just eight points above the drop zone is just horrendous. The White Hart Lane faithful certainly have reason to be worried.
