According to a report from Bild (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies could be out as long as four-to-six weeks with his hamstring injury.
That comes in contrast to board member for sport Max Eberl describing the injury as “not serious” earlier this week if true:
Further tests have revealed that Alphonso Davies’ injury is worse than first thought. The Canadian is now expected to be sidelined for 4-6 weeks.
Also per Bild (via @iMiaSanMia), the rash of injuries that has impaired the outside-back positions has Vincent Kompany pondering a return to right-back for Joshua Kimmich;
With Laimer (suspended) and Davies (injured) out tomorrow, and with Stanišić and Boey not ready to start yet, Joshua Kimmich could play at right-back against Freiburg tomorrow as he did in the second half in Rotterdam. Guerreiro would replace Davies at left-back. Pavlović and Goretzka would then start in midfield.
Sky Sport journalists Florian Plettenberg and Torben Hoffmann have since confirmed Bild’s initial report.
This could be a temporary issue at right-back as Josip Stanišić and Sacha Boey are expected back soon, but this does add some additional intrigue into the match vs. SC Freiburg on Saturday.
